Hello everyone!

I’m Asuka, a solo developer creating games for Steam.

Since this is entry #0, I’d like to start by sharing a bit about my background.

From iPhone Apps to Full‑Time Solo Development

I originally began as a solo iPhone app developer.

Back in high school, I taught myself how to code and created my first app entirely on my own: MistWorld.

To my surprise, MistWorld reached #1 on the paid app charts, which gave me the confidence to continue as an independent developer after graduation instead of pursuing a traditional job.

Since then, I’ve released multiple titles in the MistWorld series across iPhone, Android, and Nintendo Switch, including:

MistWorld2, AnotherMistWorld, TapMW, MistWorldTA1, MistWorldTA2.

After releasing MistlessStory—a project aimed at stepping beyond the MistWorld series—I shifted my focus to Steam.

My first Steam title was ChokoNana, and now I’m fully dedicated to developing my next project: Ryne‑Arca.

(ChokoNana was originally planned as my final mobile title, but due to platform restrictions, I rebuilt it as a Steam release.)

Ryne‑Arca: A Challenge I Must Overcome

Ryne‑Arca isn’t just “the next game.”

For me, it represents a trial I need to overcome to reach the next stage of my journey as a creator.

I’ve already received publishing offers from several companies, which shows just how much attention this project has been attracting.

Because of that, Ryne‑Arca is shaping up to be a major milestone—one that could define my future as a developer.

But this is not something I can achieve alone.

Your support means more than you can imagine, and it gives me the strength to keep pushing forward.

I still have a lot to learn, but I’m committed to giving everything I have and growing with each step.

What is Ryne‑Arca?

Ryne‑Arca is a story set within Arca, the inner world of the Cocoryne (Ryne) twins.

“Cocoryne” is the surname of a pair of identical twin sisters, and when the name Ryne is used, it refers to both sisters together.

The main narrative unfolds inside the heart of the elder sister, Vitta.

Although the real-world Ixi should not be directly affected,

their hearts remain subtly connected, and that bond shapes the landscape of Arca.

Characters

Vitta Cocoryne

The protagonist of the story.
Her name is derived from Leucocoryne vittata.

Ixi Cocoryne

Vitta’s younger twin sister.
Her name comes from Leucocoryne ixioides.

Their Relationship

Vitta and Ixi are identical twins, yet their home environment has left deep marks on both of them.

Their parents loved only Ixi.
Vitta was never harmed physically, but her existence was ignored.
She received only the bare minimum—food and nothing more.

From Vitta’s Perspective

Ixi is kind when their parents are not around.
In front of their parents, Ixi ignores her, and Vitta understands why.
Still, she cannot forgive the fact that they look identical, yet only she is unloved.
At times, she wishes to erase Ixi and become her instead.

From Ixi’s Perspective

Vitta is “another version of herself” with the same appearance.
She loves her sister deeply.
Yet she fears the fact that someone who looks exactly like her is unloved—as if a different possibility of herself is standing right there.
Sometimes she wishes to erase Vitta to rid herself of that fear.

Symbolism Within Arca

Every location in Arca carries a symbolic meaning.

What appears to be an ordinary place is, in truth, a manifestation of Vitta’s emotions, memories, and fears.

As the story progresses, new information reveals

what each place represents within Vitta’s heart.

Exploring Arca means delving deeper into her inner world.

About the Subtitle

“Beyond the Mirror’s Depths, a World Lost in Mist”

（Japanese: 「深層の鏡裏と霧の世界」）

This subtitle symbolically represents Arca, the inner world of the protagonist, Vitta.

The Mirror’s Depths

“Depths” refers to the hidden, deeply buried layers of the heart.

“Mirror’s Depths” points to the space behind the reflection—

the innermost part of Vitta’s heart, where her most concealed emotions and memories reside.

It symbolizes the place she avoids looking at,

yet cannot escape.

A World Lost in Mist

Arca first appears as a world covered in pale mist,

where nothing can be seen clearly.

This represents Vitta’s inability to face reality

and her fear of an uncertain future.

The word Mist is used intentionally.

Unlike Fog, which is thick and unyielding,

Mist is light—

a haze that gradually clears as she begins to walk forward.

When Vitta accepts her circumstances

and chooses to move ahead,

the mist slowly lifts,

revealing the shape of her future.

As you journey across the vast expanse of Arca,

you will seek your own answer:

Can you forgive yourself?

Can you accept reality?

And how will you face her sister, Ixi?

Ryne‑Arca is a quiet action RPG that reaches into the deepest parts of the heart.

Only you can decide whether the path you choose is the right one.
